Rose Smischney

Rose Mary Smischney, 92, of Shooks, died Nov.18, 2011 at the Sanford Medical Center in Bemidji.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Nov. 22 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Blackduck with Fr. Raul Cobo-Perez officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Shooks under the direction of Cease Funeral Home of Blackduck.

Active pallbearers were her grandchildren.

She is survived by children, James (Pamela) Smischney, Joyce (Jerome) Mueller of Princeton, JoAnn (Mike) Foley of Sauk Centre, Josephine ("Swanny") Swanson of Apple Valley, Joseph "Pat" (Laura DeCent) Smischney of Kelliher, Jerome (Diane) Smischney of Shooks and Julian (Maureen) Smischney, both of Shooks, Jerald (Ione) Smischney of Saum and Jeffrey (Kim) Smischney of Rush City; 26 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and four sisters, Leona Mayer of Wausau, WI, Margaret Erickson of Flint, MI, Mildred Olson of Deer River and Evelyn (Rodney) Leach of Kelliher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph "Rudy" in 2004; her parents; two sons, John and Jean; a daughter-in-law, Becky Smischney; two grandchildren, Jay and Kimberly Smischney; five sisters, Helen Hufnagle, Sister Nivard Neft (Mary Ann), Agnes Gitzen, Josephine Thums and Alma Collins and a brother, Leonard Neft.
