Rose Eileen (Knott) Kienitz, 83, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Turtle River, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2008.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 2075 70th St. E., Inver Grove Heights, Minn. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born March 19, 1925, to Jesse and Lloyd Knott in Turtle River. She graduated from Bemidji High School in 1943. She attended business college in Bemidji and worked for the superintendent of Bemidji Area Schools. She went on to pursue a career as a paralegal in St. Paul, Minn., and worked at the Pentagon. She married Roman Kienitz Feb. 15, 1958. They raised their two children in St. Paul. In 1983, they moved to Phoenix, where she resided until her death.
She was raised in the Lutheran faith. She enjoyed watching movies, having lunch, singing at the nursing home and playing Bunco with her friends in Phoenix.
She is survived by her children, Robert (Julie) Kienitz of Belleville, Ill., and Jane (David) Wicklund of Crystal, Minn.; sisters, Kathryn (Daryl) Knoer of Bemidji, Lillah Ubert of Bemidji and Geraldine (Nat) Jackson of Spring Valley, N.Y.; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brothers, George Knott and Larry Knott.
