Robert Lane Edwards, 79, died Oct. 12, 2013, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer, Alaska from natural causes.
He was born on a farm in Bemidji, Minn., Dec. 12, 1933 to Marion and Ellen Edwards, and graduated from Bemidji High School in 1952. He joined the U.S. Marines in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1957.
In 1959, he married Margaret Michaelson. They moved to Yakutat, Alaska in 1961 where Robert worked at the White Alice Site as an electronics technician. They raised three children there and moved to Palmer, Alaska in 1973 where he worked at Neklason Lake site and then to Alascom in Anchorage until he retired in 1997.
His hobbies were John Deere tractors, hunting, fishing, reading and Sudoku. He was a great husband, father and grandfather and will be missed.
Surviving are his spouse, Margaret; son, Steve (Cathy Satterfield); son, Kevin (Terri); daughter, Tracy (fianc Mace Hill); granddaughter, Brittany Dolechek (Zach); granddaughter, Melanie Edwards; grandson, Michael Edwards; great-grandson, Riley Conway, all of Alaska; brother, John of Virginia; brother, Ronald of Minnesota; sister, Arvilla of Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews.
No services will be held as per Roberts wishes. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
