Robert Dale Hanson, 53
Robert Dale Hanson, 53, of Cass Lake, formerly of Red Lake, died on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006, at his home.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Red Lake with Rev. Pat Sullivan officiating. A wake will begin at 11 a.m. today at the Red Lake Center in Red Lake and will continue until the time of the service on Friday. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Red Lake. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji assisted the family with arrangements.
Honorary pallbearers will be Amanda Fairbanks, Andrea Kangas, Tanna Hanson, Jose Garcia, Arlene Fairbanks, Barb Fairbanks, Theresa Kangas, Eugene Hanson, Gary Hanson and Carlene Sigana.
Pallbearers will be Robert Kangas, Jonathon Kangas, Emiliano Hernandez, Randy Hanson, Desmond Sigana, Mike Sigana, David Allen Jr., Trevor Hanson and Robert Hanson Jr.
He was born on April 21, 1953, to Clarence and Amelia (Chase) Hanson, in Red Lake. He worked for MediVan of Bemidji and Leech Lake Solid Waste as a truck driver.
He liked going to the casinos and spending time outdoors and enjoyed making woodcrafts.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Cheryl Kangas of Cass Lake; sons, Chad Newmen of Minneapolis, Robert Jr. and Trevor Hanson of Milacs, Minn.; brothers, Joe Hurd of White Earth, Minn., Eugene Hanson of Bemidji, Gary Lee (Marilyn) Hanson of Bena and Ken Hanson of Red Lake; sister, Gloria Hanson of Minneapolis; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son; sisters, Doreen "Cookie" Hanson and Rebecca Hanson; and two nephews.
