Robert "Bob" Martin Haberle

Robert "Bob" M. Haberle, 84, of Alvwood, died on Saturday, August 24 at the Good Samaritan Society in Blackduck,.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 30 at Faith Lutheran Church in Blackduck with Pastor Tom Reagan officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery with full military honors provided by American Legion Post #372 of Blackduck.

Bob was born September 9, 1928 in Frohn Township, MN to Gottlieb and Martha (Eichstadt) Haberle. He was raised in Pennington, and attended the Frohn Township School. He enlisted in the US Army in 1951 and served in Korea and Japan during the Korean Conflict, before he was discharged in 1953 as PFC. On February 6, 1954, he married Betty Ann Olafson in Grand Rapids, MN.

After they were married he worked at the Bemidji Feed Mill, and then at the Gladen Sawmill in Blackduck. He began working for the Northland Timber Co. in Blackduck in 1958. They moved to the family farm in Alvwood in December of 1966. He retired on June 4, 1990 from Northwoods Lumber after 32 years. He enjoyed farming and western movies.

He is survived by four sons, Donald Haberle, Ronald (Chris) Haberle and Paul (Becky) Haberle, all of Blackduck and Scott Haberle of Grand Rapids, MN; three grandchildren, Joshua (Nicole), Michael (Sallie) and Shane Haberle; five great-grandchildren, Haunalyn, Sean and Zachary Haberle, Wyatt and Zander Haberle and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his parents; seven brothers and two sisters.
