Robert Aylesworth, 81, of Bemidji, died Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Neilson Place.
Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 24, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Lou Ellen Hartley officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be in the spring in Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji.
Robert Dean Aylesworth was born February 19, 1931 in Moorhead, MN to Harold and Elsie (Schmidt) Aylesworth. As a child, he moved with his family to Bemidji and attended elementary school in Wilton and Bemidji. He graduated from Bemidji High School in 1949. He entered the Air Force in January 1951 and served in Korea. He married Gloria Hartman in August of 1953 while he was still in the service. He was discharged in October 1953. After being discharged from the service, he returned to Bemidji and worked in the family businesses, Merchants Transfer and Storage and Bemidji Bus Lines and later became owner of the businesses with his brothers. He became semi-retired because of illness in 1984. After that he did some part time driving. He was a member of the Bemidji volunteer fire department for 20 years. He was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion, the Elks, Moose and Eagles Club over the years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and also did some volunteer driving for Beltrami County. He loved hunting, boating, fishing, camping and traveling with family and friends and he loved having morning coffee with friends in various cafes and solving local and world problems.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria; 2 sons, Harold (Noemi) Aylesworth and James (Evy) Aylesworth both of Bemidji and 1 daughter, Robin OReilly of Phillipsburg, NJ; grandchildren, Ryan (Abby) Aylesworth, April (Jorge) Mendoza, Genevieve OReilly, Paraic OReilly, Craig (Carol) Goplin and Erik (Amy) Goplin; 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Roby and Bill Aylesworth.
