Richard Tarte, 93, of Bemidji, MN, died Saturday, June 7, 2014 at GoldPine Home, Bemidji surrounded by his family.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Richard Alvin Tarte was born April 3, 1921 in St. Paul, MN to Alvin and Anna (Stahl) Tarte. He attended Blessed Sacrament School, St. Paul through 8th grade and graduated from Harding High School, St. Paul. On Jun 26, 1942 he married Donna Wanschura in Hopsville, KY. He entered the Army October 26, 1942 and served in WWII as a Staff Sargent. He earned a Purple Heart, Combat Medal, and 2 Bronze Service Stars. They lived in Camp Campbell, KY, Camp Berkley, TX, Willernie, MN, Warroad, MN and settled in Bemidji, MN. Richard was a game warden supervisor for the DNR for 32 years and retired August 16, 1980. He spent the rest of his retirement years wintering in Texas. Richard was an avid golfer, bowler, fisherman and hunter. He spent the last 7 years at GoldPine Home, the staff was like his family and he loved them all. Richard was close to his family in Bemidji and enjoyed spending time with them.
He is survived by his daughter, Karin (Bruce) Premo of Bemidji; 2 granddaughters, Dallas Moreno of Bemidji and Tara Burton of Middleberg, FL; sister, Ardell McLean of St. Paul; many nieces and nephews and dear friends, Don and Sandy Roth of Woodbury, MN. Honorary urn bearers will be Chris Waters and Steve Waters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna; brother, Robert and sister, Delores.
