Richard Speck, 75, of Bemidji, MN died Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Havenwood Care Center, Bemidji.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 20, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Matthew Wurm officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Frohn Eastside Cemetery, Beltrami County, MN.
Richard Earl Speck was born February 3, 1938 in Turtle River Township, Beltrami County, MN to Ray and Dorothy (Noble) Speck. He grew up in Turtle River Township and graduated from Bemidji High School. He worked at Wheeler Lumber & Bridge. On February 3, 1962 he married Barbara Vesely. In 1969, they bought his parents farm and went from dairy then beef. Richard did logging on the side with David Eichstadt. He retired from the farm 5 years ago. He was a board member of Turtle River Township, served as a board member of Frohn Eastside Cemetery and a board member of Bemidji Coop for 18 years. He was a very avid deer hunter.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Speck of Bemidji; sons, Allan (Jackie) Speck of Absarokee, MT, Dean (Kelly) Speck of Bemidji, Rodney (Carey) Speck of Bemidji and Dennis (Dawn) Speck of Blackduck; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, John (Clarine) Speck of Bemidji; sisters, Ramona Smith of Bemidji and Marilyn (Ray) Eklund of Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Dorothy Speck and brother, Gail Speck.
Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimers Association, the American Parkinson Disease Association or charity of donors choice.
