Richard "Rick" Neil McCluhan, 50, of Mankato died Friday, Feb. 1, 2008 at his home of natural causes.

Rick was born April 18, 1957 in Sioux City, IA to Neil and Angela (Camarda) McCluhan. He attended Minnesota State University-Mankato and received a BS Degree in Business Administration in 1979.

On March 26, 1983 Rick was united in marriage to Joni Rae Rosin in Mankato.

He was active on numerous local, state and national boards dealing with a vari-ety of community, social, business and legislative is-sues including:

Mr. McCluhan ran for Min-nesota State Legislative Dis-trict 24B as a Republican in 1996, and again as a Reform Party candidate in 1998. Rick was elected as the Chairman of the Reform Party of Minnesota in 1999. And oversaw the transition to the Independence Party of Minnesota, and completed his term in 2001.

His employment related ex-perience included the fol-lowing: Express Personnel Services of Mankato - CEO, manager of this full-service staffing firm, which pro-vides a full range of human resources related services throughout the upper Mid-west-specifically South Cen-tral Minnesota, 1986-Present; Richard McCluhan & Associates, CEO of this private vocational consult-ing/placement firm provid-ing services throughout the upper Midwest 1982-Present.

Rick cherished time with family and friends. He loved animals, enjoyed politics and being outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Joni of Mankato; three sons, Neil, Anthony, and Joseph all of Mankato; his mother, Angela McCluhan of Park Rapids; one brother, John (Shirley) McCluhan, of St. Paul; five sisters, Mary Labrasca of Fargo, ND, Leah (Tim) Pigatti of Park Rapids, Barb (Ron) Baker of Ando-ver, Kelly (Richard) Buchholz of Holdingford, Joan (Dewey) Zuhlsdorf of Winnebago; seven nephews & seven nieces, five great-nephews and three great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father, Neil R. McCluhan and nephews Mark and Erich Buchholz.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 1:00 p.m., Tues-day, Feb. 5, 2008, at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church.

Visitation was held 4 to 8 p.m., Monday at Woodland Hills Funeral Home, and continued one hour prior to the service at the church.
