Rev. John Kenneth Kerth

Rev. John Kenneth Kerth, Tahlequah, OK (formally of Bemidji & Blackduck, MN) age 85, died peacefully at his home on Monday, October 28, 2013.

Born June 11, 1928, to John and Marie Kerth, in Chicago, Illinois, he graduated from Rhodes Grammar School, Leyden High School, Moody Bible Institute and Columbia Bible College.

He served in the U.S. Army as a MP in the Occupation of Japan at the end of WW II.

He served first a Baptist General Conference work in the slums of Chicago. He next pastored a suburban Bible Church in Franklin Park, Illinois. God called this city boy to the mission field of the North Woods of Minnesota to Pastor the Carr Lake Bible Chapel, as an associate of Oak Hills Bible Fellowship, Bemidji MN. From there he became the Director of the Bemidji Christian Youth Center. He next pastored churches in Minnesota - Blackduck Evangelical Free Church, Windom Evangelical Free Church, and Dora Lake Christian & Missionary Alliance - and co-pastored the La Hacienda Evangelical Free Church in Apache Junction, Arizona. Since his retirement in 2003 he lived and participated in Tahlequah Oklahoma at the Go Ye Village.

He departed to be with the Lord he loved on October 28th as the sun came up. He was predeceased by his mother and father, his 5 brothers and his sister (George, Henry, Bill, Ernest, Walter, Irene) and their spouses and his infant son, Jeff.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, son Jon Kerth ,Bemidji, Minn., daughters Joy Wilkins (Randy), Milwaukee, Wisc., Jan Giese (Douglas), Bemidji, Minn., Jil Mistic (Bernie), Bemidji, Minn., eleven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, several nephews and nieces and many friends.
