Hancock won after the first ballot showed him only two votes short of endorsement and Darrell Auginash dropped out of the race, followed by Doug Lindgren, who was attempting to make his fourth run against Sailer.

Hancock was the co-owner of R&D Tire in Bemidji for 23 years. He has owned and managed three businesses, and this is his first foray into elective office.

Endorsed for the Senate District 2 post was Dennis Moser, a Clearbrook truck driver, who will face Sen. Rod Skoe, DFL-Clearbrook.

In House 2A, it will be a rematch with Republican-endorsed Steve Green against Rep. Kent Eken, DFL-Twin Valley.
