Report: Body found in burning car in northwest Minnesota
A burning car found in Norman County near the boundary with Polk County contained a body.
Authorities at the Norman County Sheriff's Office are investigating an incident this morning in which human remains were found inside a vehicle destroyed by a fire.
According to a statement from Sheriff Jeremy Thornton:
The department received a report at about 7:20 a.m. of a vehicle on fire on Norman County Highway 1.
The Fertile Fire Department, emergency responders and the Norman County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene and discovered the vehicle apparently had been stuck in a snow drift on the roadway.
The vehicle was completely burned and human remains were found inside the vehicle.
The body will be transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy, Thornton said.
The incident remains under investigation by the Minnesota State Fire Marshall and Norman County Sheriff's Office.
