Remember, Planned Parenthood is still the abortion provider

Thank you, Brittany Olson of Minneapolis, for raising public awareness of the peaceful 40 Days for Life prayer vigil outside the Planned Parenthood facility in Bemidji. We women and men of Bemidji and neighboring communities pray that people will receive the truth to make wise life choices for themselves and their children.

Also appreciated is your honesty in stating that the Planned Parenthood facility in Bemidji refers women for abortions and that the facility provides contraceptives. Contraceptives include the abortion-causing drug known as RU-486: Mifepristone (Mifeprex or Early Option) along with Misoprostol (Cytotec) to increase the effectiveness of RU-486. Perhaps women are not in the facility when they experience the extreme pain and blood of a drug-induced abortion, often alone without support or medical help. Yet, Planned Parenthood is the abortion provider.

You refer to Rev. Don Braukmann, who wrote thanking our community newspaper for raising awareness of homelessness during Respect Life Month. He also thanked those involved in other pro-life efforts, including the Northwoods Pregnancy Care Center. Your call for education is being answered there.

Women facing unplanned pregnancies receive information about available choices and learn about various community resources to meet their needs. Clients of the Care Center can receive prenatal and parenting education; fathers are also encouraged to attend the free classes for points that enable the parents to “purchase” items for mother and baby. In addition, the Northwoods Pregnancy Care Center offers hope and healing for those who have experienced the loss and pain an abortion can bring.

Brittany, during the 40 Days for Life prayer vigil, I pray that you will continue in your concern for women and the truth, learning about pregnancy care centers in your community and perhaps joining in their good work.
