The Bemidji Blue Ox opened its Region 9C playoffs late last night against Dumont in Wheaton. Ada, which defeated the Blue Ox 6-5 Sunday in the Norman-Polk League playoff championship game, battles Montevideo this morning.
If Bemidji won Friday night it will face either Chokio or Canby 1 p.m. Sunday. A loss Friday would mean a game against one of those teams today at 4 p.m. and, perhaps, another game at 6:30 p.m.
Other teams in the lower bracket include Morris and Rosen.
Play resumes next Saturday with elimination games at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., the winners' bracket final at 4 p.m. and the losers' bracket final at 6:30 p.m.
The final losers' bracket game will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday with the title game at 3:30 p.m.
Ada scored twice in the last of the ninth inning to defeat the Blue Ox in the league playoff final. It marked the third win this season by the A's over Bemidji, the three coming by a combined total of four runs.
Bemidji took a 1-0 lead in the second on Chris Conway's single and Nick Lee's two-out double.
It became 2-0 in the fourth on singles by Matt Schneider, Jesse Jacobson and Duane Biehn.
Ada answered with one but the Ox took a 4-1 lead in the sixth on hits by Chris Conway and Sol Schneider and two Ada errors.
But the A's came back with three to knot the count at 4-4.
Bemidji took its final lead in the eighth on Lee's RBI double.
Lee followed with his second double to plate Schneider for a 5-4 lead.
Matt Schneider got the first out in the last of the ninth. But a hit batter and two walks loaded the bases and a single scored the tying and winning runs.
