Red Lake schedules candidate fair for state, local races
RED LAKE – A candidate fair for local and statewide offices representing the Red Lake Indian Reservation will be from 5-9 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Red Lake Seven Clans Casino and Event Center.
All candidates in the races have confirmed their attendance at the event, according to a news release. There are more than 2,900 registered voters on the Red Lake Nation (Reservation).
Candidates who have confirmed attendance include John Melbye and Diana Sweeney for 9th Judicial District Judge, Sen. Rod Skoe and Dennis Moser for State Senate District 2, Rep. David Hancock and Roger Erickson for State House District 2A, and Quentin Fairbanks and Tim Sumner for Beltrami County Commission.
The informal event begins with a half hour mixer, with food and beverages available for attendees at no cost or free-will donation.
The fair is sponsored by the Red Lake Tribal Council, Seven Clans Casino Red Lake, the Red Lake Political Education Committee (RLPEC) and the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians.
Several organizations donated to support efforts by RLPEC, which was formed in 1996 to educate and register Red Lake voters.
