Raymond Wilfred Tollefson, 92, of Bemidji, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at North Valley Health Center in Warren, Minn.,surrounded by his family.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home with Rev. Dean Nelson officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Bemidji.
He was born March 31, 1916, to Ole and Laura (Johnson) Tollefson in Beltrami County. He grew up and went to school in Grygla, Minn. He worked on the family farm and for Halverson Trees. He married Phyllis Teigland March 15, 1947, in Bemidji. In 1959, they moved to Waukegan, Ill., where he worked as a carpenter until his retirement in 1981. After retirement, they moved to Bemidji, where he lived until moving to the Good Samaritan Center in Warren in October 2003. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, dancing and playing cards.
He is survived by his daughters, Jacquelyn Rosell of Winthrop, Maine, and Lolly (Scott Christensen) Farmen of Grand Forks, N.D.; son, Richard Tollefson of Coon Rapids, Minn.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife in 1991; sisters, Florence Landro, Gladys Erickson, Dagney Willis, Fern Miller and Norah Beck; brother, Daniel Tollefson and a half-brother, Paul Tollefson.
