Raymond Max Klein

Raymond Max Klein, 78, of Tenstrike, Minnesota, died on Monday, August 5, 2013 at his home.

A Mass of Resurrection will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 9, 2013 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Blackduck with Fr. Raul Perez-Cobo officiating. A wake will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Cease Funeral Home Chapel in Blackduck with a prayer service at 7 pm. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Blackduck, Minnesota with full military honors provided by American Legion Post #372 of Blackduck.

Active pallbearers will be Raymond’s grandsons, Ryan Klein, Tim Klein, Shawn Klein, Garrett Klein, Mitchell Klein, Mykel Klein, Kory McNamara, Kyle McNamara and Ethan Bell

Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Brekke, Ron Jedlicka, and Dennis Muehlstedt.

Raymond was born on May 7, 1935 in St. Paul,MN, the son of Max and Helen (Muehlstedt) Klein. He attended Washburn High School in St. Paul, graduating in June of 1952. After graduation Raymond enlisted in the US Marines in June of 1952. Raymond served in Japan and Korea during the Korean Conflict and was Honorably discharged as a Sgt. in June of 1955.

Raymond married Beverly Hendrickson on September 29, 1956 in South St. Paul, MN and resided in South St. Paul and Inver Grove Heights, MN for 26 years before moving to Tenstrike in 1979 where they have resided ever since. Raymond worked for Northern Pacific Railroad from 1955-1958, the MN Dept. of Transportation from 1958-1984, and the MN Dept. of Public Safety from 1984 until he retired in 1991. Following his retirement Raymond went to work for FEMA from 1991-1998.

He was a member of Blackduck American Legion, St. Ann’s Catholic Church and for 27 years he served as road supervisor for Taylor Township. Raymond received “Employee of the Year” award from the MN Dept. of Public Safety in November of 1989

Raymond enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening, gunsmithing, jewelry making, and his grandchildren.

Raymond is survived by; his wife, Beverly Klein of Tenstrike; 5 children, Greg (Denise) Klein of Tenstrike, Mike (Nancy) Klein of Rice, MN, Sue (Tom) McNamara of Cottage Grove, MN, Dennis (Tonni) Klein of Fargo, ND, and Dianne (Loren) Bell of St. Michael, MN; 15 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and his special mother in law, Olive Hendrickson of St. Paul.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and 2 sisters, Helen Waller and Joyce Melvin.
