Ralph August Mittag, 80, of Leonard, died on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, N.D.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel of Bagley with Mardy Schermerhorn officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Leonard. Flag presentation by Melvin Johnson Post 256
He was born Dec. 30, 1927, Paul and Ida (Pinski) Mittag in Leonard. He spent most of his life farming with his family in the Leonard area leaving shortly to serve his country in Korea in 1946-1947. He was a great welder with a special knack for making beautiful lamps. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, riding snowmobiles and four-wheelers and especially trapping.
He is survived by his son, Sid Bagoom, currently stationed in Iraq; sisters, Ruth Mattson of Alexandria, Minn., Edna (Lewis) Marsh of Shevlin and Shirley (Robert) Engen of Newport, Minn.; brother, Earl Mittag of Leonard and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
