Rain could add another day to Hwy. 2 detour

A detour on U.S. Highway 2 on the southeast end of the Bemidji bypass could be extended for another day as rain has delayed the work of Enbridge Energy pipeline crews to repave a portion of the east and west bound lanes that were cut open to install a pipeline under the road. Crews are continuing to work at the site but the detour may not be lifted until sometime Tuesday, Sept. 22, weather permitting.

The detour route for westbound traffic approaching the east end of the bypass will be directed to Beltrami County Road 50, west on County Road 404/Carr Lake Road Southeast to Highway 197/Washington Avenue South. Eastbound traffic will take the same route in reverse.

Motorists are asked to be extremely alert to four-way stop signs that will be placed at the intersections while the detour is in place. Extra traffic enforcement will also be present.
