Radiothon generates $48K to end child abuse

BEMIDJI – Bemidji-based Paul Bunyan Broadcasting’s 24th annual Radiothon to End Child Abuse generated more than $48,000 in donations last week.

The event, which spanned last Thursday and Friday, raised raised $48,404.65, outpacing last year’s Radiothon.

A news release said the money raised benefits The Chid Abuse Prevention Councils of Beltrami, Clearwater and Hubbard Counties, and the

Cass County/Leech Lake Reservation Children's Initiative, which includes the

HOWA Family Center and Family Safety Network in Walker.

In addition, Prevent

Child Abuse Minnesota is a Radiothon partner, providing support for local

agencies.

This year’s event included a 7-hour live broadcast from Paul Bunyan Mall. Radio personalities also solicited donations while broadcasting through noon Friday.
