A public hearing will be held Thursday on the supportive housing plan being proposed by the Beltrami County Housing and Redevelopment Authority and developed by the Headwaters Housing Development Commission.
The hearing will be held during the regular meeting of the Greater Bemidji Area Joint Planning Commission, which meets at 6 p.m. at Bemidji City Hall.
The plan involves a 20-unit supportive housing development for homeless and transitioning families on vacant land north of the Bi-County Community Action Program Inc. and adjacent to the east side of the U.S. Highway 2 bypass.
Other public hearings include:
- A variance request from Robert and Lorena Cook, 346 Elm St. N.E., to construct an addition to the south side of an existing single-family residence. The addition would increase the exterior footprint of a legal, existing, non-conforming residence.
- A variance request from Rodney and Delores Pickett, 5712 Birchmont Drive N.E., for a carport and covered walkway from a garage. The plans would increase the exterior footprint of two legal, non-conforming structures.
- A variance request from Peter and Sandy Hennum, 3601 Waville Road N.E., to increase the exterior footprint of a single-family residence by 214 square feet, allow for a 2-foot roof overhang, and increase the overall roof by a height of 2 feet. The homeowners plan to construct a 214-square-foot addition for an entryway and add a new pitched roof with a 2-foot overhang.
Also, the JPC is expected to consider and make a recommendation on the proposed sign ordinance amendments.
