Proposal aimed at scrap metal thefts
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Theft victims, police and prosecutors are working to tighten Minnesota's law on scrap metal sales.
An estimated 23 vehicles are stolen each day in Minnesota. And authorities say older cars are most often stolen for salvage money. Within hours of a theft, a vehicle can be crushed at a salvage yard. No title is needed if the vehicle is more than six years old.
