PREP GIRLS GOLF: Williams medals at Wadena
WADENA — Morgan Williams took top medalist award as the Bemidji High School golf team took second in an invitational at Wadena Thursday afternoon.
The Lumberjacks had a score of 354, taking second behind Pequot Lakes, which scored 350.
"We were only four behind the winners," BHS head coach Jeff Nelson said. "We still have room to improve but we did well with the weather."
It was a cold, windy day at Whitetail Run Golf Course in Wadena but Nelson said the Lumberjacks overcame it — especially Williams, who scored a 38-39-77.
"She was outstanding," Nelson said. "That's a good score in this cold weather."
The Lumberjacks were scheduled to head to Virginia Saturday but Nelson said the Iron Range area still had snow so it was cancelled.
Instead the Jacks will hit the course next at Sauk Center next Friday, May 9.
