Porter appears in Itasca County District Court, bail is set

Darrek Jerome Porter, 18, of Deer River, made his first appearance in Itasca County District Court on Tuesday.

Porter was 17 years old when he was charged Jan. 13 in Itasca County Juvenile Court with two counts of felony second-degree murder of Terrell Lee Wilson, 17, of Ball Club, and three counts of felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon against three other males.

He was certified as an adult April 25. The charges remain the same.

Porter is accused of stabbing Wilson to death and assaulting with a knife three other males in a Jan. 11 incident.

Bail has been set at $500,000 without conditions, $250,000 with conditions, or $175,000 with conditions and electronic home monitoring.

He remains in the Itasca County Jail. His next court date is June 15.
