Police Report

The Bemidji Police Department responded to the following calls:

Peace disturbance

1:37 a.m. Wednesday, 2800 block of Ridgeway Avenue Northwest. Loud music complaint. Officers found an assault victim who did not wish to press charges.


10:15 p.m. Tuesday, 100 block of Third Street Northwest. Hit-and-run accident. The suspect vehicle was located and a citation was issued.

1:34 a.m. Tuesday, Eighth Street Northwest and Irvine Avenue Northwest. A vehicle traveling westbound on Eighth Street Northwest ran a stop sign and struck a vehicle traveling southbound on Irvine Avenue. Both vehicles had to be towed.


7:07 p.m. Tuesday, 15th Street Northwest. A juvenile female rode her bicycle onto Irvine Avenue in front of a squad car while the stoplight was red. The officer had to activate lights to stop traffic.


7:03 p.m. Tuesday, 1100 block of Paul Bunyan Drive Northwest. Two juveniles, ages 8 and 10, were caught shoplifting at Lueken's Village Foods North.

12:56 p.m. Tuesday, Bemidji State University's Oak Hall. A computer keyboard was stolen.

9:09 a.m. Tuesday, 200 block of Second Street Northwest. A laptop computer was stolen from a business.

8:04 a.m. Tuesday, 1600 block of Conifer Avenue Northwest. Gas was stolen from a vehicle.

7:50 a.m. Tuesday, 2500 block of Park Avenue Northwest. Theft was reported from a vehicle.


1:49 p.m. Tuesday, 1400 block of Paul Bunyan Drive Northwest. A caller found a "Stoner Avenue" sign in the trash.


9:15 a.m. Tuesday, 1000 block of Minnesota Avenue Northwest. A vicious dog was reported.

5:56 a.m. Tuesday, Bemidji Road Northwest. A beaver was seen walking in the middle of the road. An officer checked the area and did not locate the beaver.

Sheriff's Report

The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office responded to the following calls:


7:37 p.m. Tuesday, Jackpine Road Northwest. A boyfriend and girlfriend were making out. Nothing criminal found. The mother of the female was contacted and made aware of the situation.


6:16 p.m. Tuesday, Long Lake Drive Northeast. A vehicle was reported stolen. The vehicle was later recovered on the caller's land after it had been driven into the woods and got stuck a logging trail. No suspects at this time.

10:58 a.m. Tuesday, Birch Township, Hines. Two beaver traps were stolen from trapping locations in Hagali and Birch Townships.

Fire Report

The Bemidji Fire Department responded to the following calls:

12:30 p.m. Saturday, Florence Lane Northwest. Officials checked on a report of black smoke. Nothing was found.

12:40 p.m. Saturday, Roosevelt Road Southeast and Washington Avenue Southeast. Personal-injury accident. Three people were transported to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.

12:50 a.m. Sunday, 2800 block of Ridgeway Avenue Northwest. Medical call.

4:47 a.m. Sunday, Ridgeway Avenue Northwest. Medical call.

1:43 a.m. Sunday, Lake Avenue Northeast. Gas smell. Unfounded.

2:45 p.m. Sunday, U.S. Highway 2 West and Highway 71. Personal-injury accident. Two people were transported to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center. One person was extricated.

2:56 p.m. Sunday, 4900 block of Roosevelt Road Southeast. Grass fire.

9:47 p.m. Sunday, North Plantagenet Road Southwest. Motor vehicle collision.

9:48 p.m. Sunday, Midway Drive South. Motor vehicle collision.

9:54 a.m. Monday, 1600 block of Birchmont Drive Northeast. Fire alarm. Dust from a soda machine.

6:16 p.m. Tuesday, Northern Elementary School. Fire alarm.

8:07 a.m. Tuesday, 4200 block of Becida Road Southwest. Chimney fire.

12:33 p.m. Tuesday, 800 block of America Avenue Northwest. Medical call.

8:25 a.m. Wednesday, Central Elementary School. Carbon monoxide checked. No elevated levels found.
