Police kill bear in Twin Cities suburb
WEST ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Police in West St. Paul shot and killed an injured black bear early Saturday.
The bear was spotted in a residential area. Police Chief Manila Shaver said efforts to contain it in hopes of tranquilizing it were unsuccessful. He said a possible injury to the bear's hind foot was aggravating it.
Shaver said officers feared that the bear would flee to an even more populated area, so they shot it.
The bear may have been the same one that had been spotted recently in Savage, Eagan and other southern Twin Cities suburbs.
