Police Report

The Bemidji Police Department responded to the following reports:

Animals

7:19 a.m. Friday, America Avenue Northwest. Dog bite complaint. The animal was impounded.

10:21 a.m. Thursday, 1200 block of Second Street Southeast. A squirrel was trapped in a basement. The animal was grabbed and taken outside.

Peace disturbance

11:27 p.m. Thursday, 2900 block of Pine Ridge Avenue Northwest. Loud noise complaint. Subjects were issued a verbal warning.

Theft

8:09 p.m. Thursday, Walmart. A 30-year-old male was arrested after officers responded to a report that he was observed opening packages with a knife. The man was located on the north side of the building, but then fled on foot. He was eventually arrested and charged with shoplifting, fleeing on foot and had a warrant outside of Beltrami County.

Drugs

2:59 p.m. Thursday, Bemidji High School grounds. A person was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect attempted to hit a subject with his vehicle in order to flee the scene.

Disorderly conducts

11:58 a.m. Thursday, 30th Street Northwest. A 47-year-old woman was arrested for consuming alcohol in public.

10:35 a.m. Thursday, Oshki Manidoo. A student was acting disorderly.

6:53 a.m. Thursday, People's Church. A 32-year-old woman was removed and arrested for trespassing.

Suspicious

10:53 a.m. Thursday, Park Avenue Northwest. A woman was reportedly pretending to shoot at people with her finger. The woman was located and found to be intoxicated. She was issued a warning and released.

Harassment

9:57 a.m. Thursday, 800 block of Beltrami Avenue Northwest. A vulgar message was reportedly left on a teacher's voicemail at school.

Assist

7:45 a.m. Thursday, Minnesota Avenue Northwest. A person just released from jail demanded police replace her bottle of whisky.

The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office responded to the following reports:

Accident

8:59 p.m. Thursday, U.S. Highway 2 Northeast. Hit-and-run accident. The suspect was located in Hubbard County and the driver was arrested for drinking while intoxicated.

Animal

7:37 p.m. Thursday, 8000 block of Mill Street East. Deputies responded to a wounded dog. The animal was dead upon the officer's arrival.

Thefts

6:59 p.m. Thursday, 5000 block of Theater Lane Northwest. A woman reported an Acer laptop computer stolen.

5:42 p.m. Thursday, 13300 block of Irvine Avenue Northwest. Gas drive-off.

10:28 a.m. Thursday, 76000 block of Marshall 54 Northwest, Grygla. Two dogs were reported stolen on March 12.

Public relations

4:51 p.m. Thursday, Wilton Hill Road Northwest. Deputies located a 6-year-old child holding a steel rod into the lane of traffic. The child was taken back to the residence and an officer spoke to the child's older brother to keep a closer watch of his little brother.

Assault

12:33 P.M. Thursday, Kelliher. A fight occurred between two students. An investigation is ongoing.

Missing person

8:46 a.m. Thursday, Holand Road Southwest. Deputies are investigating a person contributing alcohol to minors and possible assault.

Property damage

1:37 a.m. Thursday, 12th Street Northwest. A mailbox from the 1000 block of Irvine Avenue was found on the roadway of Irvine Avenue. The mailbox was placed onto its mount from where it was removed from.
