The Bemidji Police Department responded to the following calls:

Assaults

2:44 a.m. Wednesday, People's Church. An assault was reported.

2 a.m. Wednesday, 100 block of Third Street Northwest. A disagreement was reported in front of Toasty Beavers bar.

2:44 p.m. Tuesday, Paul Bunyan Mall. No details.

1:23 a.m. Tuesday, 100 block of Third Street Northwest. A fight was reported in front of Classic Hard Times Saloon.

Suspicious

7:13 p.m. Tuesday, 800 block of America Avenue Northwest. A man was reportedly acting strange and believed to be taking a controlled substance.

5:43 p.m. Tuesday, 10th Street Northwest and Beltrami Avenue Northwest. A dog was reportedly struck by a car in the intersection.

Thefts

4:09 p.m. Tuesday, Pete's Place South. A check was forged.

3:49 p.m. Tuesday, 2500 block of Minnesota Avenue Northwest. Clothing was stolen.

2:43 p.m. Tuesday, 300 block of Paul Bunyan Drive Southeast. A brush cutter was stolen.

Weapon offense

12:45 p.m. Tuesday, 3700 block of Prairie Street Northeast. A gun was reportedly found in a garbage container. The gun was recovered.

Frauds

10:38 a.m. Tuesday. An attempted telephone scam was reported.

9:48 a.m. Tuesday, 400 block of Wood Avenue Southeast. A broken window was reported.

Property damage

10:06 a.m. Tuesday, Minnesota Nice Café. Attempted break in.

Sheriff's report

The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office responded to the following calls:

Property damage

3:40 p.m. Tuesday, Pleasant Valley Road Northwest, Puposky. A Durand Township resident reported property damage to two gates leading into his property, as well as an attached chain and three padlocks. Photographs were taken of truck tracks and two sets of boot prints.

Vehicle call/complaint

3:10 p.m. Tuesday, Northwood Road Northwest. A logging truck lost half its timber load as it turned west off U.S. Highway 2 onto County Road 507. The truck and logs were moved from the scene prior to officer's arrival. Logs in the ditch will be removed.

Fraud

1:33 p.m. Tuesday. A Port Hope Township resident reported a possible phone scam involving questions related to credit card information.

Weapon offense

9:26 a.m. Tuesday, Grange Road Northwest. Several gunshots were heard north of Whiting Road in Northern Township. Two deputies responded to the general area, but were unable to locate the origin.

Accidents

7:56 a.m. Tuesday, Roosevelt Road. A minor accident involving a vehicle and a coyote was reported.

2:36 a.m. Tuesday, Spencer Road Northwest. An accident involving a law enforcement squad car and a deer was reported.

Theft

11:26 a.m. Tuesday, 100 block of Spirit Avenue Northwest. Two Minnesota license plates were stolen off a van while parked in a parking lot in Grant Valley Township.
