Daniel Wayne Jourdain surrendered after holding officers at bay for more than three hours, according to Bemidji Police Chief Mike Mastin.

In a news release, Mastin said:

Police were called about 1 this morning to the 300 block of Westwood Acres on a report of an assault with a gun. Upon arrival, officers learned a 37-year-old victim had been struck in the head with the barrel of a sawed off shotgun, resulting in a large laceration. The victim was treated for injuries.

Jourdain remained in the residence and refused to speak with police.

Officers then evacuated neighboring homes as the standoff extended more than three hours. Jourdain then surrendered to police without incident.

The Bemidji Police Department was assisted by the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office and the Headwaters SWAT team.
