Poetry workshops planned July 8

BEMIDJI - Poetry Workshops with two nationally acclaimed writers will be held in Bemidji to be followed by a reading July 8 at the Wild Rose Theater.

Jules Nyquist moved from her native Minnesota and KFAI's "Write on Radio" to Albuquerque, N.M. She created the Poetry Playhouse studio downtown where she holds poetry related events and teaches workshops. As part of the Appetites Book Tour 2012, Nyquist will be giving a workshop from noon-2 p.m. on the Sestina poetry form.

John Roche, a widely publicized and recognized author, will be offering a workshop from 3-5 p.m. on poetic memoir.

Roche will take the participants beyond the merely confessional and into the realm of document, living history.

The workshops are $25 each or $45 for both. Those interested should contact Erin Marsh at 218-333-8979.

Bemidji poet Erin Marsh has invited the fellow poets to appear at the reading of their works.

The reading begins at 7 p.m. at the Wild Rose Theater which is located in the Masonic Hall, 501 Bemidji Ave. N.
