Plane crashes into lake in Crow Wing County

On July 3, 2009 at approximately 1:27pm, the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an airplane crash on Lower Hay Lake in Ideal Township. It was determined that the float plane was attempting to land on the lake when it overturned. There were two occupants in the plane, pilot Jeffery Arndt age 47 Maple Plain MN, and passenger Benjamin Kodadek age 31 St. Louis Park. No serious injuries were reported.

The crash is being investigated by the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office and the Federal Aviation Administration.

The Sheriffs Office was assisted at the scene by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Ideal Fire Department and North Ambulance.
