Thanks to the Pioneer Editorial Board for their conditional endorsement of the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009, also known as ACES or the Waxman-Markey bill. Clean energy and affordable energy are the same thing? This is a point that many folks have been trying to hammer home for a long time, in spite of opposition voices who want to keep us chained to polluting, limited use fuel sources for as long as possible.
I've looked at the bill and have been following the coverage for a while.
The Congressional Budget Office just came out with a report showing that under the emissions reduction program, the cost for the average American will be about 18 cents per day. That's not counting the reduced costs from gains in energy efficiency, which is a huge part of the bill. ACES is the first step in a path to moving toward a more prosperous domestic economy, more affordable and clean energy sources, and energy independence. Thanks again for your endorsement. I hope our elected officials make the right choice.
