Bemidji Symphony Orchestra final concert of the 2011-12 season will begin at 3 p.m. today in the auditorium of Bemidji High School. Composer Chris Brubeck's new composition, "Roosevelt in Cowboy Land," will be conducted by Beverly Everett and narrated by Clay Jenkinson. The second half of the program will include Copland's "Fanfare for the Common Man," selections of music representative of the Theodore Roosevelt White House from classical to rag time. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors 62+, $10 for college students with a valid ID and free for children grades K-12.
The doors will open at 2:30 for the open seating. A talk back with Everett, Jenkinson and Brubeck will begin at the conclusion of the concert. Those interested in asking questions or just hearing the discussion is asked to move down to the foot of the stage and take a seat.
Puppetry 101 with Margaret Burger of Fortuna Puppet Theater from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesdays from May 9 -30 in Freaxis Studios, lower level of BCAC, 426 Bemidji Ave. The workshop is a continuation of the earlier workshop on making basic rod puppets and the participants will learn the ground rules for rod puppet manipulation and improvisation through practice and feedback. If a participant does not have a rod puppet, Burger will provide a generic puppet to use for the workshop at a minimal cost of $5. The registration deadline is Wednesday. Lorie Line and Her Fab Five will perform their intimate concert "Live in the Sunshine" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Historic Chief Theater, 314 Beltrami Ave. NW. Joining Line on stage will be fiddler/mandolin player Peter Ostroushko and drummer Kirk Johnson for an evening of music highlighting music from Line's all-original album, "Serendipity." This tour takes Line and Her Fab Five to almost 25 cities this May, June and July.

Windy Potratz will be reading from her new book, "Agnes Plays Soccer: A Young Cow's Lesson in Sportsmanship" from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Wild Hare Bistro and Coffee Shop, 523 Minnesota Ave. NW.
