Pioneer debuts new iPad app
BEMIDJI -- Readers of the Pioneer now have one more avenue to get their news. In an exclusive partnership with Lueken's Village Foods, the Pioneer's iPad app launched Friday.
The app, which can be downloaded on iTunes, is free. Pioneer readers can instantly share content on Facebook and Twitter.
"You can literally read a dozen headlines in 20 seconds," advertising director John Svingen said.
The app's content includes all news and sports stories, photos, obituaries and opinion columns featured on the Pioneer's website and in print. Readers can control text size and navigate sections in what Svingen called a "slick, user-friendly interface."
The app's development was time consuming, Svingen said, but now that it's up and running, all online content will be immediately available on iPads.
Svingen expressed thanks to Lueken's for their sponsorship of the app.
"There's mutual benefit," he said. "They're a forward-thinking, local company that understands the value of branching out with technology to put out their message."
