Pinesol Postings: U.S. Highway 2 construction

Beginning Monday, a section of U.S. Highway 2 in Wilton will be torn up and the two bridges over the abandoned railroad bed removed. The grade will be lowered by 8 feet. MnDOT engineer Todd Vonasek said the contractors would lower the grade more except they need to leave room for a box culvert for the recreational trail that runs along the former railroad bed. He said the culvert had to be big enough so that someone running the snowmobile trail groomer could get out on foot if there was a problem with the machine.
