Pilot suffers minor injuries in helicopter crash near Akeley

A 41-year-old California man suffered minor injuries when the helicopter he was piloting crashed Wednesday south of Akeley.

The helicopter crashed at about 12:45 p.m. in a field off of County Road 119.

According to a press release from the Hubbard County Sheriff's office:

The pilot, Brandon Edeal of Trulock, Calif., suffered minor injuries.

The pilot was spraying a potato field with a fungicide when, he believes, the rear rotor broke off, causing the crash. The crash is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.

The helicopter was owned by Scott's Helicopter Service of LeSueur, Minn.
