Pieter Willem Van-Spronsen, 87, of Kelliher, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at his residence.
The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Blackduck. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Cease Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Blackduck in the spring.
He was born Jan. 18, 1920, to Willem and Maria Van-Spronsen in Rotterdam, Holland. He was a member of the Dutch Underground, and ended up in concentration camps during World War II. He came to the United States about 45 years ago. He lived in Rotterdam, New Jersey and Minnesota. He loved fishing so much that he moved to Minnesota in 1991. The lakes in Minnesota reminded him of the lakes in Holland. He loved puttering around in the garage. He made furniture, fixed cars and always kept himself busy with something.
He is survived by his three daughters of Europe; special friend, Helen Hindle of Kelliher; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one sister.
