The competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for Members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. Since then, 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nation-wide competition.

Artwork entered may be up 28 inches by 28 inches (including frame) and may be up to 3 inches in depth. Artwork may be paintings, drawings, collage, prints, mixed media, computer generated art, or photography.

The deadline for all submissions is April 22. To apply, send a photograph of the artwork to congressional.art@mail.house.gov.
