Peter William Swanson, 68, of Bemidji, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008.
The funeral will held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji with Rev. Mark Papke-Larson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Cease Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Frohn Eastside Cemetery in Bemidji.
He was born July 5, 1940, to Ollie and Evy (Holmberg) Swanson in Evanston, Ill. He was raised and educated in Batavia, Ill., where he graduated from high school in 1958. He married Lyn Davey on June 29, 1963, in Chicago.
He graduated from Chicago Technical College with a civil engineering degree in 1964. He worked for an engineering firm in Batavia until 1977 when they moved to Bemidji where he continued to work as a consulting civil engineer throughout Minnesota. He retired in 1995. He earned a commercial pilots' license and enjoyed flying. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, curling, visiting with family and friends and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife Bemidji; sons, Eric (Jackie) Swanson of Cable, Wis., and John Swanson of Waconia, Minn.; three grandchildren and brother, Tom (Carol) Swanson of Bavatia.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials are preferred to the North Country Hospice.
