An evening of sharing will be from 6-8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, March 16, 2014 at St. Johns Catholic Church in Nebish. Family will greet friends from 9-10 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 10 a.m., Monday, March 17, 2104 at the church. Fr. Raul Perez-Cobo will officiate.

Pete was born on May 5, 1931 to Pete Sr. and Anne (Ruzicka) Mistic in Nebish, MN. On August 7, 1954, he married the love of his life, LaVerne A. Smith and together they raised five children on their family farm in Nebish, MN.

Later in life, Pete & LaVerne opened two convenience stores, Petes Place on Hwy 2 West and Petes Place South on Hwy 71, both in Bemidji, and has since sold them.

Pete was gifted as a business man and also spent time in the northwoods as a logger, but he was a farmer at heart. His passion was crop farming and raising beef cattle. Pete continued to farm right up to the time of his death and he was eagerly looking forward to spring planting. Farming was not an occupation for Pete, it was a lifestyle.

He was an amazing man and accomplished much in his lifetime. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 59 years, his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe Mistic and twin brother, Paul; sister-in-law, Stephanie Mistic; brothers-in-law Ervel (Bud) Sande and Richard Pears, Sr.

Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Bemidji.
