Pedestrian killed in International Falls is identified

A pedestrian was killed early this morning in an accident in International Falls.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol out of Virginia:

A 2007 Peterbuilt semi-truck was eastbound on Highway 71 when Charles K. Johnson, 74, of International Falls, ran out onto the highway at about 2:30 a.m. and was struck by the vehicle. Johnson died at the scene.

The driver of the semi was Douglas B. Benson, 37, of Puposky. He was not injured in the crash.

Also responding to the scene were the International Falls Police Department and Koochiching County Sheriff's Office.
