March 31,1927-Nov. 6, 2008
Pearl M. Jahnke, 81, of Detroit Lakes, passed away quietly at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes on Thursday, November 6, 2008.
Pearl was born to Peter Illg, Jr. and Mae (Rux) Illg on March 31, 1927 in Minneapolis. They moved to Frazee soon after, and then to Detroit Lakes, where Pearl attended high school, graduating in the top 10 of her class in 1946. In September of that year she married Albert (Bud) Jahnke and settled in Detroit Lakes to raise a family.
Pearl was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker, and together she and Bud raised four boys. She worked for several years at the Clerk of Court office, during terms of court, and for three summers she and the family ran Rustic Rest Resort on Long Lake. She was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church, and served for many years in the Ladies Guild there. She enjoyed gardening and her many friends, but her life was dedicated to taking care of her family, who will miss her dearly.
Pearl will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Russell (Joanie) Jahnke of Hot Springs, Ark., Joel (Kathy) Jahnke of Bozeman, Mont., Michael (Cheryl) Jahnke of Vergas and Allan Jahnke of Detroit Lakes; her seven grandchildren; a brother, Clyde Illg of Minneapolis; as well as nine great grandchildren.
Preceding Pearl in death were her parents, her sister A. Irene, and her beloved husband.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 10 at Zion Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes, with the Rev. Dan C. Abrahams officiating.
Casket bearers were Russell Jahnke, Joel Jahnke, Michael Jahnke, Allan Jahnke, Tom Flies and Kelly Bahls.
