The donation provides for flat-screen televisions in Same-Day Surgery at North Country Regional Hospital as well as Internet kiosks in the hospital and at Neilson Place on the WoodsEdge campus.

The new wall-mounted flat screen televisions are meant to help surgical patients relax and take their mind off their pending procedure. According to staff, pre-operative anxiety is the No. 1 condition they treat. One way to reduce anxiety is to offer a distraction, and for many people, the televisions accomplish that. The secured TV remote also houses the nurse call button, providing easy access for patients.

In addition to the TVs, Paul Bunyan has donated Internet kiosks that will be located in the hospital and Neilson Place. Soon, visitors and patients will be able to access health information and keep in contact with family and friends.

Paul Bunyan Telephone has been a strong support of health care and North Country Health Services, the NCHS Foundation stated in a news release.

Other items in the Excellence in Healthcare package include GeneXpert System lab equipment, bedside medication verification, 12 room renovations, indoor and outdoor healing gardens and spoken menu technology.

To support the project, contact the NCHS Foundation at 333-5515.
