Paul Bunyan Communications reports network is operational, undamaged
BEMIDJI - Paul Bunyan Communications reported today that it's network is functional and operational.
Brian Bissonette said in an email that some reports that all communication systems down was incorrect.
"However, if the power is out any device using power will not work including cordless phones, computers, wireless routers, TVs, etc.," he wrote. "Phones will work if they don't require power."
Paul Bunyan Communications' network is underground, and therefore not affected by fallen trees or high winds. Bissonette said the company also relies on battery backup.
"I think many assume that because their cordless phones won't work that phone service is out and that is not correct," he said "The reason they don't work is because they require power."
