Paul Bunyan Broadcasting wins twice in United Way cake decorating contest
BEMIDJI - Paul Bunyan Broadcasting's Radio Flyers won both awards as the United Way of Bemidji Area held its second annual "Piece of Cake!" Celebrity Cake Decorating Contest and Live Cake Auction Wednesday at Marketplace Food and Drug, which sponsored the event.
The contest and auction raised $2,422.36 for the United Way's Backpack Buddies program.
Twelve local teams each had 45 minutes to design a one-of-a-kind cake. The only rule was that each team had to use the one-fourth sheet cake provided as part of its creation. After the competition, Tammy Tisland of Aasness Auctioneers auctioned off the cake packages.
