Patrol: Driver in pond crash did not have license
ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota State Patrol says the mother driving a car in which five children became trapped under water did not have a valid driver's license.
Marion Guerrido's car left a ramp at Highways 100 and 7 Thursday morning, traveled down a slope and into a storm water pond. Guerrido made it out of the car. The children did not. Authorities and a family attorney say two of the children died Thursday night.
Minnesota Public Radio News reports the State Patrol says it's too early to conclude whether speed or any mechanical problems were factors in the crash.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Department of Transportation list of 2014 construction projects includes the interchange near where the accident occurred. It's part of a $60 million construction project to improve safety and other factors.
