Patriotic songs focus of next band concert

BEMIDJI - The Bemidji Area Community Band will host its annual Independence Day concert at 7 p.m. Sunday on the green next to Bangsberg Hall on the Bemidji State University campus.

Conductor Erika Svanoe will lead a group of about 50 musicians, ranging from students to retirees, in several patriotic songs.

The nonprofit band is funded through donations and art grants.

Two more Sunday performances are planned for July 22 and Aug. 5.

In case of inclement weather, the concert will be inside Bangsberg Hall.
