The National Weather Service says parts of Bayfield and Douglas counties have been hit with 12 inches of snow since late Thursday night. And in northeastern Minnesota, the town of Finland got about 10 inches.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation says roads in the northern half of the state are snow-covered, with large areas of slippery stretches. Driving conditions are about the same in central Minnesota, where the state DOT says travel can be difficult. Conditions are good or fair elsewhere in the state.

The weather service said Friday the worst of the storm was over, with dry conditions expected through the weekend.
