Police were called to 619 Woodland Avenue around 9:18 p.m. for a "fight with injuries," said Police Chief Terry Eilers.

Officers and an ambulance responded to find a man giving another man CPR on the front lawn.

"I punched him and he's not breathing," the suspect allegedly told police and paramedics.

Attempts to revive Richard Allen Hoskins,41, were unsuccessful.

The suspect, who is currently in custody, told police he and Hoskins were out all day together having drinks.

"It was just one of those arguments that got out of hand," Eilers said.

He said the victim was punched once in the end of the nose, which can be a deadly area, the chief said. Two eyewitnesses were present, Eilers said.

The death took place in a residential neighborhood north of the downtown area, east of Park Rapids Area High School.

The victim lived at 614 N. Main, a few blocks away.
