The Bemidji boys tennis team posted victories at fourth singles and first doubles but fell short in the other matches and dropped a 5-2 home decision to Grand Rapids Thursday.

The loss dropped Bemidji's record to 4-8. The Lumberjacks hope to end the regular season on a positive note today when they visit Moorhead.

Also Saturday the sub-section coaches are expected to contact each other and determine the seeding for the tournament which begins Tuesday. If BHS wins today it could earn as high as a fourth seed but a loss probably would drop the Jacks to fifth, sixth or seventh, according to coach Scott Engelstad.

Brainerd will be the host for the sub-section tournament but, if weather forces the action indoors, the tourney will be moved to the indoor courts at Sartell.

Thursday against Grand Rapids Alex Hess was a 7-5, 6-4 winner at fourth singles. Bemidji also won at first doubles as Adam Holter and Justin Byers posted a 6-4, 6-2 triumph.

Falling in singles play were Ben Holter, Ben Kloha and Hayden Byers.

Joey Wood and Kyle Fodness lost at second doubles as did Levi Richert and Craig Lindseth at third doubles.
